Henry County Heritage Trust’s (HCHT) mission is to transform community landmarks into civic spaces and to preserve historic memories and artifacts in order to promote and celebrate Henry County and its people.
HCHT is governed by a board comprised of volunteers who are passionate about tangibly preserving the history of Henry County, and making it accessible to all.
The museum buildings are absolutely packed with information and memorabilia showcasing the lives of those who have inhabited Henry County, Iowa. The displays, exhibits and information are ever-changing and we invite you to join us to explore the rooms, display cases, and files to engulf yourself in our history. We are rich in the history of all things Henry County, Iowa, and always expanding!

HCHT is open Saturday afternoons from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. May through October.

After the Mount Pleasant Mental Health Institute closed, all patient records were transferred to Independence, Iowa. There are no MHI records held locally. The contact for the Independence MHI is Medical Records Department 319-334-5288. Good luck with your research.
